Says the Buddhist literature and thus taking this into consideration, we at NCS Goa provide the opportunities to all the students to fulfill their dreams with a positive outlook and convert it into reality. We firmly believe that the holistic development of our students has to be the tool with which we can achieve the larger goal of social and educational excellence leading to a dynamic and progressive society. I take pride in declaring that the academic year 2010-2011has been very rewarding with children achieving success in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities as well.
Academics
1. It was immensely gratifying experience to yet again accept the prestigious C-In-C Western Naval Command trophy for the school best in academic performance.
2. In the Class XII Board examination, Master Rohit Mohandas topped the class of 39 students scoring 93.8%, 26 students passed with distinction, 10 in 1st class and 2 students in 2nd class.
3. In the Class X Board examination out of 70 students, 9 students passed with a cumulative grade of 10.
4. We are also proud of the achievements of our students in the International Science Olympiad in which 94 students from class III to class XII took part achieving top ranks at the national level.
5. The outstanding academic performance of all our students is the testimony of the high caliber and dedication of our teachers and the friendly learning environment.
6. We at NCS (G) have successfully introduced Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation {CCE} to ensure our student’s intellectual, emotional, physical, cultural and social development to present a comprehensive picture of a learner’s profile.
Sports
“Everyone has a will to win but very few have the will to prepare to win.”
These few are our physical education teachers who work tirelessly to organize inter house sports competitions which help students to excel in the field of sports. Vigorous practice, hard work, team spirit and confidence have ensured success in badminton, table tennis, squash, swimming, cricket and athletics. Holding aloft the NCS(G) ‘s torch of excellence, our young athletes have won a number of laurels for the school.
1. The NCS Goa athletic team performed a successful stint at the CBSE cluster level championship. They won the athletic championship by defeating 49 other CBSE schools.
2. Our badminton team secured a third position at the state level badminton championship organized by the directorate of sports and youth affairs, Government of Goa.
3. B.Siddharth won the third prize in table tennis at the CBSE cluster sports meet and Akanksha Salunke won the under 14 girls national squash championship.
4. We also won the under 14 and under 17 athletic runners up at state level organized by Director of sports and youth affairs.
5. NCS (G) won the third prize in under14 and under 19 state level swimming competitions.
6. Our NCC students also achieved success in firing and swimming competitions held by No 1 Goa Naval NCC unit.
7. The team of 11 athletic students participated in CBSC cluster at national level at Kochi with four of them securing bronze medals.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Various inter –house competitions, field trips, picnics and celebrations keep the school atmosphere festive without diluting the quest for the academic excellence. Such activities provide that extra edge of confidence which helps the students to bring laurels to the school.
The school also won prizes in art, dance, debate, elocution, public speaking, music (vocal and instrumental) mime, quizzing at school, state and national level. Six students from class IV to IX were awarded with ‘Avantika Gems’ title. Students also had the privilege to witness the Queen’s Baton relay in connection with the XIX commonwealth Games,Sanskriti Yatra –a mobile exhibition on Rabindra nath Tagore and Mother Teresa by the Indian Railways . During the Navy week 30 students of class XI had a chance to sail on naval ships at a ‘Day at Sea’ organized by the Indian Navy.
I am proud to mention that our NCC students were part of state Republic Day and Independence Day parades in Panjim. In addition the Scouts and Guides undertook activities such as Bob a Job, sandwich and card making which were well appreciated by the staff, parents and students.
To help primary children to gain confidence and to bring them into the main stream house captains and vice captains for the primary section were appointed for the first time in the student’s council .It was a moment of pride for NCS (G) to witness a solemn and decorous ceremony with both seniors and juniors taking the oath.
The staff and students celebrated important events with lot of enthusiasm. The cultural shows presented by the students achieved laurels and praise especially the annual day functions recently conducted. The theme chosen for the primary section was ‘Harmony across the Seven Seas” and that by the secondary section was ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’. The shows were enjoyed and appreciated by one and all. It was our crowing glory. The credit goes to the management, staff and students who worked in harmony to make sure that the school rides on the path to success and takes pride in achieving one more feather in their cap.
